Islamabad: Protest erupted in  Dera Bugti district of Balochistan in Pakistan on Friday over the outbreak of cholera.

So far six people have died due to the disease in Pir Koh.

“Six people, including three young children, died of cholera in Pir Koh,” Balochistan Health Secretary Mohammad Saleh Nasar told The Dawn.

They also demanded access for clean water.

People took to the roads in droves, carrying banners and placards inscribed with their demands.

They chanted slogans against the government and the local administration. They finally staged a sit-in, blocking the road leading towards the gas plant, reports The Dawn.

Locals said the absence of clean drinking water was the reason behind the outbreak of the disease.

“We have no other option but to drink contaminated water from the ponds along with the animals,” they were quoted as saying by The Dawn.
