Pakistan: PDM leaders arrive in Mardan for 'Mehangai March'

Islamabad/UNI: The leaders of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), including PML-N's Maryam Nawaz, have started congregating at Mardan near the Nowshera road to conduct what is being dubbed as the 'Mehengai March'.

Local media reports suggested that roads surrounding the venue have been closed for traffic and more than 1500 policemen have been deployed for security purposes.

PDM, which is an 11-party opposition alliance, has decided to go ahead with the rally, despite the district administration denying them permission to do so in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Maryam described the gathering as a "huge rally" and said Mardan was "choked".

The Dawn quoted her as claiming that people were fed up with the Imran Khan government.

''People coming out in throngs and multitudes shows how sick they are, of non-stop mehngayi and bad governance," she alleged.
