Moscow, July 29 (Sputnik): Russia's Sukhoi aircraft manufacturer began making fifth generation fighter jets Su-57 for the country's armed forces, the office of Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov, who is in charge of the defense industry, told Sputnik.

"At the moment, Sukhoi began fulfilling its contractual obligations. As a result, the Russian Defence Ministry will receive the most cutting-edge multirole fifth generation fighter jets, which will enhance combat capabilities of the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces," the deputy prime minister's office said.

The contract for 76 jets was signed at a defense industry forum in Moscow earlier this year.
