Turkey: Minibus crash leaves 17 killed

Ankara, Mar 30 (IBNS): At least 17 people were killed as the vehicle in which they traveling crashed into a  light pole in eastern Turkey on Thursday, media reports said on Friday.

The incident left 36 others injured, reports said.

"The minibus caught fire after hitting the pole on the Igdir-Kars highway in Igdir province,"  Anadolu Agency of Turkey reported.

The report said all the people, who were involved in the crash, entered Turkey illegally from the Iranian border.

Speaking to Anadolu Agency, deputy provincial health director, Taner Basaran said that 50 people were in the vehicle, of which the passenger capacity is only 14.

The injured people were rushed to Igdir State Hospital for treatment.
