Actress Tamannaah Bhatia quizzed by ED in Bitcoin mining scam

Guwahati/IBNS: Actress Tamannaah Bhatia was on Thursday quizzed by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case linked to a mobile app, media reports said.

Several investors have been allegedly duped in the Bitcoin mining scam linked to the 'HPZ Mobile' app.

Tamannaah had appeared in one of the events of the app in exchange for a charge.

However, no incriminating charge has been brought against the actress.

A First Information Report (FIR) was filed by the cyber crimes unit of Kohima Police alleging several individuals were duped in the scam.

Several "shell entities" were created to channelise funds from illegal online gaming, betting and cryptocurrency investments.

The investors were promised massive gains and substantial returns.

However, the return was only paid for a month and post which, the accused started accosting excess funds from the investors.
