Draupadi Roopa Ganguly BJP candidate from Howrah

Kolkata, Mar 18 (IBNS) BJP leader Roopa Ganguly, who once was known as 'Draupadi' for her role in television serial 'Mahabharata', is among 149 candidates whose names have been announced by the party for the West Bengal Assembly elections.

The actor-turned-politician  will contest from the Howrah Uttar constituency taking on former Bengal cricketer Lakshmi Ratan Shukla, who has been pitted by the ruling Trinamool Congress.

Party's  national secretary and former State president Rahul Sinha will contest from the Jorasanko seat.

Another actor-turned-politician Locket Chatterjee, a popular face in Bengali cinema and televison serials, will contest as a BJP candidate from Mayureshwar in Birbhum district.
